  • BARCELONA! VALE!!

Last weekend Domingos and I took 4 days off to commemorate our 2-yr wedding anniversary and his birthday. We went to Barcelona, primera vez para Domingos, segunda vez para mi!

It was, in a word, delightful. Whatever you want, Barcelona has it. Blue skies? Check. Sunshine? Check. Beach? Check. Ski slopes? Check. Cava, pan con tomate, jamon serrano? Check, check, check!

What a fantastically glorious place! I have not even mentioned the general aesthetic of the city. Beautiful buildings, Gaudi masterpieces, museums, cafes, plazas, everything. There were crowded areas, but we made an amazing discovery: SPANISH PEOPLE DO NOT BUMP INTO YOU!  And if they do, they say “perdona!” Just like in France! And Slovenia! And Italy! And Belgium, Holland, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, and probaly every other country in continental Europe! Continental Europe is a far more civilized place than the UK. Fascinating.

A very special place worth mentioning: Xampaneria. 70 euro cents for a glass of cava (3 different kinds to choose from) and tapas galore. Did I mention jamon serrano?!
